Wisdom for Father’s Day Poem

don’t leave the cap
off the bottle
else it may spill
you can’t ride a bike as fast
when you’re
going up hill

these truths I learned
yea,
when I was young
these truths I learned
and watch the fire,
you’ll get burned

be kind to your brother
if you want his respect
take care of your mother
and always watch your back

throw a big pinch of salt
over your shoulder
everyday
and don’t let your pride
no, don’t let your pride
get in your way

don’t be too good to know
you can get down on your knees
don’t forget to show thanks
and to say ‘pretty please’

to be someone
you’d want to know
love everyone
and let go
let go of all hate
cause that way
only lies mistakes

these truths I learned
yea,
when I was young
these truths I learned
and watch the fire,
you’ll get burned
